About

Synergistic Statistical Consulting & Analysis /  Machine Learning / Data Exploration

Based in Melbourne, Australia I hold a BA(Honours) in Psychology from Deakin University (Geelong) and a PhD in Decision Trees in Psychiatric Epidemiology from Monash University (Melbourne).

I have many years experience applying classical (e.g. ANOVA, regression), contemporary (e.g. median quantile regression, bootstrap) and data mining / machine learning (e.g. trees, bagging) techniques to psychiatric, psychological, medical, nursing and sport data using  SPSS, Stata, SAS, CART and Weka (open source) packages.

I also have much experience in tutoring, lecturing and statistical consulting and advising people of all different levels of stats experience, authoring and coauthoring over 100 journal papers in refereed international and national journals, and creating research reports and proposals, and successful grant applications.

The term ‘synergistic’ to me means working collaboratively with the client / researcher / clinician so that I learn something more about their field and they learn something more about statistics /  data analysis.
